Var .

Whether you are holidaying with your family or on a getaway with friends, every season offers some unique experiences in the Var region.

Between the sea and the mountains, come and explore some extraordinary natural sites, such as the spectacular Verdon Gorge, the largest canyon in Europe and a natural frontier with the Alps in Haute-Provence, or the beautiful islands of Porquerolles and Port-Cros off the coast of Hyères, and their fine sandy beaches, creeks and calanques fringed with pine forests, or even the mysterious Saint-Baume mountains and their “Forêt d’Exception®”-certified forest, for some fantastic hiking in the heart of Provence.

Var has plenty of amazing heritage to offer! The sobriety and clarity of Thoronet Abbey, a Cistercian marvel, will win you over, and the impressive Saint-Maximin Basilica, which houses the relics of St. Mary Madeleine, is the largest Gothic building in Provence. The Domaine du Rayol, the Mediterranean Gardens, spans 20 hectares of protected countryside at the foot of the Les Maures mountains, overlooking the sea and featuring landscapes from all around the world. Why not take a guided tour of the famous Fort de Brégançon, residence of the French President?

Hillside villages and spa resorts…which are the most beautiful villages in Var and the towns worth visiting? Aiguines and Fayence, hillside villages in Provence; Bandol; Six-fours-les-plages and Le Lavandou, both spa resorts; Sanary-sur-Mer and Saint-Tropez, fishing villages; or even Draguignan, Fréjus, Hyères, Saint-Raphaël and Toulon, all of which have a fascinating history behind them. Taking a guided tour is an excellent way to explore these locations!
