It was the main entrance of the old village and it was equipped by a nightly closed gate to protect the villagers.
When it comes on line, it has become the excise duty of the village with the obligation to the entering people to pay taxes.
In the seventeenth century, a guard post was installed under the porch. The main part of the troup was based to Solliès-Pont and the guards of Solliès-Toucas accommodated and fed by the inhabitants. It was a requirement imposed by M.Palamède de Forbin: the Lord of Solliès le Haut.
