La citadelle - musée d'histoire maritime
A HISTORY MUSEUM,
A MUSEUM OF STORIES.
Whilst looking around this interesting museum, visitors can follow the town's sailors on their journeys across seas all around the world, from small-scale coastal trade and fishing along the Provence coastline to sailing on board tall ships around Cape Horn, journeys along the African and Indian coasts to trade and cruise ship voyages with the famous Extrême-Orient line.
The museum of maritime history is also a chance to learn about famous figures in Saint-Tropez, such as Admiral Suffren, General Allard and Hyppolite Bouchard, heroes of the Argentine War of Independence, as well as the thousands of anonymous people who served the State on board ships and battleships or who battled the storms on board merchant ships.
‘Today, the whole world comes to Saint-Tropez. We are going to tell you about the time when the people of Saint-Tropez travelled the world’. (Texts: Laurent Pavlidis)
