Set on the banks of the river Bresque, the peaceful little village of Entrecasteaux is surrounded by wooded hills. Some of its houses are set right at the water's edge. Its winding streets are dominated by the long, narrow silhouette of a Renaissance castle, handed down through Provence's most influential families and formerly frequented by Madame de Sévigné.
Entirely refurbished by its original owner, the castle's many secrets are now unveiled through guided tours. Down from the castle, in the village centre, is an elegant French-style garden designed by Le Nôtre (of Versailles fame). Entrecasteaux is a genuinely charming village, perfect for relaxing strolls!
