Whether you’re by the sea or further inland, enjoy the summer no-holds-barred, with the sun at its peak, the heat, the cicadas, the smell of pine and the heath… Enjoy whizzing across the water and gliding through the air – taking the time to live, appreciate and ENJOY!

To the sea!

The Var is an unmissable seaside destination, renowned for the outstanding quality and beauty of its beaches and sea beds.

Explore the most beautiful spots on the coastline: the 5 inhabited islands (including Embiez and Bendor, which are more private), authentic beaches and coves, as well as the Giens peninsula and the red rocks of Esterel.

Paddle-boarding, kayaking, flyboarding, donutting, and even pedalos…our wide range of activities means everyone can enjoy the sea as they please. Summer is also the ideal time to try scuba-diving for the first time, to explore the magnificent sea beds in the shallows.

And of course, don’t forget about the beach! Enormous fine sandy beaches, coves or inlets, you will definitely find a beach for you amongst the 230 in the Var! You can enjoy the beach at any time of day, from early in the morning, during the day, or in the evening.

Wine-tourism and trying local produce

In the heart of Provence, the vineyards of the Var are some of the oldest in France. Today, Côtes de Provence, Bandol and Côteaux Varois are enjoyed across the world. Come and try these sun-soaked wines, whilst visiting the estates and their wonderful vineyards. Beyond simple wine-tasting, discover a world and a unique atmosphere, with concerts, vineyard walks, pop-up bars, guestrooms and wine-based activities all on offer for wine lovers!

Typical of Provence, the Var also produces excellent appellation olive oils and honey.

Parks and leisure activities

There are many activities available for you to have fun with your family or friends, including zoos, aquariums, treetop adventure courses and paintballing.

Meet the animals, zoom down giant slides, land in a pool, yomp through the trees, go paintballing in the middle of the forest: move, jump, tire yourself out, or simply just have fun.

Musuems…to stay cool!

Learn, discover, take an interest… and cool down. it might not be the main aim of a museum, but it’s a convincing argument, it must be said. The Var is overflowing with museums, both traditional and quirky. Here are our favourites:

  • La Citadelle, museum of maritime history: in the glorious setting of La Citadelle, overlooking the port and village of Saint Tropez
  • Gendarmerie and Cinema Museum in Saint Tropez, in THE famous police station of De Funès, Galabru and others.
  • National Navy Museum in Toulon, which tells the military history of the port of Toulon, up to becoming the biggest naval base in the Mediterranean basin.
  • Terra Rossa, the house of ceramic architecture in Salernes, a village renowned for its tiles. Get your fill of colours!
  • Museum of the ‘Gueules Rouges’ in Tourves, a lovely museum about the local bauxite mining industry, the ore that is refined into aluminium, whose red dust covered the miners’ faces.
