Our plan to go to the Var coastline started after the enthusiastic return of one of my colleagues to the office. Their experience greatly inspired us, so, having just decided to treat ourselves to a week of relaxation, exploration and trips, we decided to go. Hearing their stories made me fantasise about pedaling along the coast, sailing towards the Iles d’Or, weaving through the vineyards, wandering through the markets and tasting the famous Bandol wine.
So at the beginning of June, it was full steam ahead to the Mediterranean! Michel found a charming hotel by the sea on the Maures cliff, which was exactly what we needed to make the most of the surroundings and nature. I remember all of these Mediterranean characteristics, a wonderful moment in the middle of the rockroses in the Domaine du Rayol but also our seaside walk towards Port-Cros or even that long bike ride from Lavandou.
We also enjoyed our restaurant visits, especially lunch at La Rastègue… Honestly, if you’re passing by Bormes-les-Mimosas, don’t miss their ‘risotto à la poutargue’ or courgette ‘esquichade’! Over the course of these adventures, we went right into the heart of the vineyards. I have a wonderful photo of Michel next to a wine-grower speaking passionately about his work and land – a moment of conviviality to treasure.
When we reached the Provençal coast, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out sea kayaking for the first time! Setting off from Bandol, we had a great trip around the coastline. And, to top it off, we also booked a boat trip to go dolphin and whale-watching. Holidays just as we like them – full of nature and well-being, sporting discoveries and the joy of taking our time…
