Ponteves

Huddling at the foot of the Bessillons hills, this history-packed village, camped around an ancient castle, was the former stronghold of the Marquis de Pontevès. The village perches on a rocky spur jutting out from underneath the Petit Bessillon, between the Argens and Verdon rivers, and stands guard over a vast plain irrigated by the river Fauvery. Set way off the beaten track, it offers panoramic views over the surrounding mountainscapes.
