A place of pilgrimage full of History
Numerous pilgrims come here, as an answer to the Blessed Virgin’s appeal. In 1519 Mary appeared and promised to give her blessings in abundance. King Louis XIV, also known as a famous pilgrim, came to thank Mary for the gift of his birth.

A Cistercian wonder in the heart of the Var’s forest !
Built at the end of the 12th Century, the Thoronet Abbey is one of the “3 Provençal Sisters”. Celebrated by the book “Les Pierres Sauvages”, the church & monastery strongly express the Cistercian idealism, full of simplicity & rigour that St Benoit inspired.

A 15th Century’s artillery & the world today
Located in the heart of Draguignan’s Artillery School, this Museum recounts the whole technical & tactical evolution of artillery, from the 15th Century to the present time (watch a fine collection of cannons, arms & uniforms). Back to the 19th/20th Century of Provence
Located in the heart of the city, this museum was established in the 80’s by the “Association of Arts & Folks’ protection in Provence”. In 2007 the whole collections turned into a community.

The bicephalous Hermes’ bust is the symbol of Fréjus.
In 2003/2004 the Fréjus Archaeological Museum was renovated. Now a new museology anticipates the future VAR departmental Archaeological Museum. The new layout is a concept of several themes such as pottery production, housing conditions…The main pieces include a reproduction of Jupiter’s head, a mosaic called ‘The Panther’, and above all the bicephalous Hermes’ bust.

The Navy Troops Museum is a crossroad of Science & Technology, Arts & Military traditions and a real human adventure as well.
